East Webburn River, Widecombe in the Moor, Dartmoor National Park

The East Webburn River rises near Hameldown Tor and English Heritage's Grimspound on the vast back of Hamel Down. The headwaters are close to Hamel Down Cross and Broad Barrow.

From its source, the river cuts deep into moorland and tumbles past Berry Pound before arcing through Natsworthy. It flows between Hamel Down to the west and a group of splendid tors to the east. At this point, a section of the Two Moors Way runs parallel to the river.

Beyond Hamel Down, the East Webburn River Valley opens out and the river passes Widecombe-in-the-Moor and The Rugglestone Inn. Downstream of the horse riding stables at Shilstone Rocks, it enters a wooded cleave at the bottom of which it meets the West Webburn River to form the River Webburn at Lizwell Meet.

Blackadon Tor and Blackadon Local Nature Reserve rise above the River Webburn. Buckland-in-the-Moor, Buckland Beacon and The Ten Commandments Stones are to the east. The River Webburn is a very short stretch of river that flows into the iconic River Dart.
