Throwleigh, Dartmoor National Park
1. Walk to Cosdon Beacon on top of Cosdon Hill for some of the finest views on Dartmoor. On a clear day you'll see Exmoor National Park to the north and the only two mountains in southern England, Yes Tor and High Willhays, to the west.
2. Experience Dartmoor's internationally important prehistory. Try Cosdon (The Cemetery) Stone Row, Scorhill Stone Circle, the Nine Maidens Stone Circle and Spinster's Rock.
3. Visit the National Trust's Finch Foundry, Castle Drogo and Lydford Gorge.
4. Explore Chagford and the surrounding area. We can't recommend the Teign Gorge highly enough. Spend an afternoon at Stone Lane Gardens.
5. Lunch at one of the many local pubs. The Northmore Arms is nearby.
6. Try some of Dartmoor outdoor activities. Go horse riding. Cycle the Granite Way from Okehampton. Walk the Two Moors Way and the Mariner's Way.
7. Head for Moretonhampstead and then follow the B3212 past The Miniature Pony Centre to The Warren House Inn and the heart of Dartmoor National Park at Postbridge and Princetown.
8. Spend a day at Okehampton. Highlights include English Heritage's Okehampton Castle and the Museum of Dartmoor Life. Visit Meldon Reservoir. Yomp to the top of Yes Tor and High Willhays.
9. Day trip to Exeter and South Devon.
10. Travel west to the North Cornwall coast and south west to the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
