Sheepstor, Dartmoor National Park
1. Burrator Reservoir.
2. Wander out onto the moors. Sheeps Tor and Gutter Tor are on your doorstep. The Hollywood director Steven Spielberg filmed parts of the film 'War Horse' in this area.
3. Discover Dartmoor's prehistory. Visit Drizzle Combe and the Upper Plym Valley. Down Tor Stone Row (Hingston Hill Stone Row) is impressive. Merrivale is a little further away.
4. Try some of Dartmoor's outdoor activities. Mountain bike the Princetown Granite and Gears routes. Climb at Sheeps Tor. Go horse riding from Tor Royal. Yomp across the south moor on the Abbot's Way.
5. Enjoy local food and drink in pubs around Sheepstor. The Royal Oak Inn in Meavy is great.
6. The Dewerstone and Plym Valley.
7. Visit Princetown. Learn more about Dartmoor in the Princetown National Park Visitor Centre.
8. Explore local National Trust properties. Try Buckland Abbey, Saltram House, Lydford Gorge, Cotehele House and Antony House.
9. Spend a day at Dartmoor Zoo.
