Murchington, Dartmoor National Park
1. Visit Chagford.
2. Explore local prehistoric sites. Scorhill Stone Circle, the Shovel Down Stone Rows and Spinster's Rock are great. English Heritage's Grimspound is a little further away.
3. Walk the National Park's north moor and climb some of its tors. Kestor Rock is easily accessible. Cosdon Beacon at the top of Cosdon Hill is worth the yomp.
4. Visit the National Trust's Castle Drogo. Other National Trust properties include Finch Foundry and Lydford Gorge.
5. Having visited Castle Drogo, wander along the extraordinarily beautiful Teign Gorge to Fingle Bridge and Fingle Bridge Inn.
6. Discover Fernworthy Forest.
7. Spend a day at The Miniature Pony Centre.
8. Follow the A30 west to Belstone and Okehampton. Or follow the A30 east to Exeter.
9. Head to the heart of Dartmoor National Park at Postbidge and Princetown.
10. Day trip to South Devon via Bovey Tracey and the A382.
