Merrivale, Dartmoor National Park

2. Merrivale sits below some of Dartmoor's most impressive tors. Great Mis Tor and Great Staple Tors are superb.
3. Lunch at the Dartmoor Inn.
4. Spend a few hours in Princetown National Park Visitor Centre and Dartmoor Prison Museum.
5. Enjoy Dartmoor's outdoor activities. Mountain bike the Princetown Granite and Gears routes. Cycle Drake's Trail. Go horse riding around Princetown. Try climbing and bouldering.
6. Follow the B3357 east into the heart of Dartmoor at Two Bridges. Continue on the B3212 to Postbridge and Bellever.
7. Burrator Reservoir.
8. Visit Tavistock which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and discover the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
9. Explore the National Trust's Lydford Gorge, Buckland Abbey, Saltram House and Cotehele House.
10. Day trip to Plymouth. Take one of the many ferries that run across to the East Cornwall coast.
