1. Meldon Reservoir.

2. Yomp to the top of Yes Tor and High Willhays. These are the two highest points in the National Park and the only two mountains in southern England. There are some other superb tors in the local area such as Sourton Tors.

3. Black-a-Tor Copse National Nature Reserve.

4. Cycle the Granite Way.

5. Explore Okehampton. English Heritage's Okehampton Castle and the Museum of Dartmoor Life are highlights.

6. Visit the National Trust's Lydford Gorge. Other National Trust properties in the local area include Finch Foundry, Castle Drogo and Buckland Abbey.

7. Experience some of Dartmoor's prehistoric sites. See the Nine Maidens Stone Circle by Belstone and the stone rows and standing stone at Merrivale.

8. Head down to Tavistock which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Push into the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

9. Spend a day in Plymouth.

10. Explore East Cornwall.
