1. Brentor.

2. Visit Lydford Gorge and other local National Trust properties such as Buckland Abbey, Cotehele House, Saltram House, Finch Foundry and Castle Drogo.

3. Wander up Tavy Cleave.

4. Explore the moors and tors over on the wilder western side of Dartmoor.

5. Discover Dartmoor's prehistory. The standing stones, stone rows and stone circles at Langstone Moor and Merrivale are superb.

6. Visit Tavistock which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Push on and explore the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

7. Outdoor activities. Go horse riding, mountain biking, cycling, climbing, bouldering and wild swimming. Complete the Granite Way, Drake's Trail and the Granite and Gears routes up at Princetown.

8. Princetown. Spend a couple of hours at the Princetown National Park Visitor Centre.

9. Head north to Okehampton. Yomp to the top of southern England's only two mountains High Willhays and Yes Tor.

10. Head south to Plymouth. You can also explore the South Devon and East Cornwall coastlines.
