Jordan, Dartmoor National Park
1. Visit Hutholes Abandoned Medieval Settlement. Hutholes is an abandoned medieval settlement near the hamlet Jordan. At Hutholes, there's an information board providing information on the history of Jordan. 'Hutholes is considered to be the site of the original manor of Dewdon, mentioned in the Domesday Book; the place name of Dewdon, now Jordan, subsequently moved to a farmstead half a mile to the south.' 2. Follow the Two Moors Way. In Spring, there's normally a good showing of bluebells in the Jordan Valley.
3. Walk the moorland around Jordan and climb to the top of some of the local tors. The views from Yar Tor are extraordinary.
4. Take a trip to Widecombe-in-the-Moor. Lunch in The Old Inn.
5. Enjoy some of Dartmoor's outdoor activities. Go horse riding, climbing, bouldering, canoeing and wild swimming.
6. Explore the Dart Gorge. Picnic and wild swim at Spitchwick (Deeper Marsh/Spitchwick Common).
7. Discover Dartmoor's prehistory. There's a rare triple stone row on the flank of Yar Tor.
8. Head into the heart of Dartmoor National Park at Bellever, Postbridge and Princetown.
9. Visit the Dartmoor gateway towns Ashburton and Bovey Tracey.
10. Drop down to South Devon and The English Riviera.
