Gidleigh, Dartmoor National Park
1. Gidleigh sits below some of Dartmoor's most impressive prehistoric sites. See Scorhill Stone Circle, the Shovel Down Stone Rows and, a little further away, Cosdon (The Cemetery) Stone Row.
2. Located on the edge of Dartmoor's north moor, Gidleigh is a superb base for a walking holiday. Yomp to Cosdon Beacon at the top of Cosdon Hill for huge views.
3. Explore Fernworthy Forest and wander around Fernworthy Reservoir.
4. Visit Chagford.
5. Take a trip to the National Trust's Castle Drogo.
6. Discover the remarkably beautiful Teign Gorge. Lunch at Fingle Bridge Inn by the local Dartmoor beauty spot Fingle Bridge at the eastern end of the gorge.
7. Spend an afternoon at Stone Lane Gardens.
8. Follow the B3212 from Moretonhampstead into the heart of the National Park at Postbridge and Princetown.
9. Head east on the A30 to Exeter or west on the A30 to the pretty moorland village Belstone or the gateway town Okehampton.
10. Explore the North Cornwall and South Devon coastlines.
