Easton, Dartmoor National Park

1. Walk to the top of Whiddon Deer Park for remarkable views across the Chagford area to the National Park's north moor.

2. Spend a day at the National Trust's Castle Drogo and the sublime Teign Gorge. Within the gorge, enjoy lunch at Fingle Bridge Inn at the local Dartmoor beauty spot Fingle Bridge.

3. Visit Chagford.

4. See the Mythic Garden Sculpture Exhibition at Stone Lane Gardens.

5. Discover Dartmoor's internationally important prehistory. Some of Dartmoor's best sites are around Easton. Try Spinster's Rock, the Shovel Down Stone Rows, Scorhill Circle, Cosdon (The Cemetery) Stone Row and The Grey Wethers Stone Circles.

6. Walk around Fernworthy Reservoir in Fernworthy Forest. Try also Trenchford, Tottiford and Kennick Reservoirs.

7. Head up to the high moors and bag some of its tors.

8. Visit the Miniature Pony Centre and other family attractions in the eastern section of the National Park. Try House of Marbles and Teign Valley Glass and The Devon Guild of Craftsmen in Bovey. Becky Falls and Canonteign Falls are a little further away.

9. Follow the B3212 from Moretonhampstead into the heart of Dartmoor National Park at Postbridge and Princetown.

10. Leave the National Park to explore Exeter, South Devon and North Cornwall.
