Tamar Trails Walking, Tavistock, Dartmoor National Park

Tamar Trails Walking, Tavistock, Dartmoor National Park

If you're a keen walker, we'd very much recommend exploring the walking routes around the Tamar Trails Centre.

Passing through a section of the magnificent Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the west of Dartmoor, these walking routes are also within an internationally important UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The routes are off-road and the paths and tracks you follow are nice and solid which makes a change from much of the moorland walking available on Dartmoor. Over the years, we've walked all the routes outlined below. That said, if we had to choose one we'd complete the Mineral Railway Trail from the Tamar Trails Centre down to the Devon visitor attraction Morwellham Quay.

Mineral Railway Trail (Tamar Trails Centre to Morwellham Quay).

Chimney Rock Trail.

Canal Tunnel Trail.

Sheepridge Trail.

Mineral Railway Trail (Tamar Trails Centre to Wheal Anna Maria).

Wheal Maria Trail.

Wheal Josiah Trail.

Bedford United Trail.
