Ramsley Mine and Ramsley Mine Chimney, South Zeal, Dartmoor National Park

Ramsley Mine and Ramsley Mine Chimney rise above South Zeal near the northern border of Dartmoor National Park. They're located on Ramsley Hill and Ramsley Common. Copper was mined here from the 1850s to 1909.

A local information board reads 'when the turnpike bypassing [South Zeal] was constructed in 1829 rich minerals were discovered leading to the establishment of copper and arsenic mining from around 1851. The mine employed significant numbers of men and brought a brief period of prosperity to the village until its closure in 1909. The mine chimney on Ramsley Common was demolished by lightning in 1998 and rebuilt by the Parish Council the same year'.
