Green Hill, South Brent, Dartmoor National Park

Green Hill, South Brent, Dartmoor National Park

The highest ground of Green Hill is at one end of the longest stone row in the world. If it weren't for this stone row, there would be very little reason to wander over its very shallow dome of moorland. The ground is boggy and tussocky and it's remote and surrounded by some tricky mires.

Green Hill is located pretty much in the centre of Dartmoor's south plateau. Whilst the Fur Tor area on the National Park's north plateau is officially the most remote place in southern England, Green Hill and its satellite hills feel as if they should take that title.

We've positioned Green Hill on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location. To visit, we'd recommend following the route marked Abbot's Way on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map. You'll come to a series of stones that form part of the Stall Moor Stone Row which is the longest stone row in the world to which we referred above. You can then wander up to the top of the hill.
