Calveslake Tor, Sheepstor, Dartmoor National Park
Between Plym Ford and Plym Steps, close to the headwaters of the River Plym, is a very short lake, or stream, next to the which is a scatter of granite outcrops. This is Calveslake Tor.
We've positioned Calveslake Tor on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location.
To visit, head for Plym Ford. Follow the Abbot's Way up the side of the moor and then cut across to the outcrops.
Don't try to cross the Plym at Evil Combe. There are mires on the west side of the Plym at this point.
If the river level is low, you can also cross at Plym Steps and walk up to Calveslake Tor.
It's a remote and very atmospheric place.
