Trowlesworthy Settlements, Shaugh Prior, Dartmoor National Park

The Upper Plym Valley in Dartmoor National Park is known for its concentration of Bronze Age and medieval sites. It was clearly an important and populated area. The high number of settlements are recorded on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map. There are some fine examples of settlements near the Trowlesworthy Stone Rows in the southern section of the valley.

We've positioned the Trowlesworthy Settlements on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see their location.

To visit, walk from either the car parking areas by Cadover Bridge or from the car parking area at Blackaton Cross. If you're approaching from the latter, you pass the Twrowlesworthy Stone Rows on your way.

The settlements look out over the modern clay works to the South Devon and East Cornwall coastlines. You can also see Plymouth and the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The River Plym flows to the west. Dartmoor's high south moor climbs to the east.
