Eylesbarrow, Princetown, Dartmoor National Park

Eylesbarrow, Princetown, Dartmoor National Park

A section of the old Jobbers' Road runs between Princetown and Sheepstor. At Nun's or Siward's Cross, the path climbs to the extensive remains of Eylesbarrow Tin Min before descending to Sheepstor Brook Ford and Scout Hut Copse below Gutter Tor. Up by Eylesbarrow Tin Mine, just off the Jobbers' Road, is Eylesbarrow. On high ground 454 metres above sea level, it offers huge views across Dartmoor and the Westcountry.

We've positioned Eylesbarrow on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location. On that satellite imagery, you'll see two barrows or collection of rocks.

To visit, follow the Jobbers' Road. It's marked Jobbers' Road on the Harvey British Mountain Map 'Dartmoor' map. On the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map, it's the path running between Princetown and Sheepstor marked as a broken green line. There's a car parking area at Sheepstor Brook Ford and Scout Hut Copse to the south west or many, smaller, car parking areas on the Princetown to Whiteworks road to the north. You can also wander across from the car parking areas at Burrator Reservoir. We'd recommend the one by Norsworthy Bridge.
