Challacombe Valley and Farm, Postbridge, Dartmoor National Park
This beautiful valley sits between Hamel Down to the east and Challacombe Down to the west. At the top of the valley are Headland Warren Farm, Hookney Tor and English Heritage's Grimspound. At the bottom of the valley, by Challacombe, the land flattens out into an area of farmland leading down to Jordan and the Jordan Valley.
People have been living here for millennia. At the top of the valley, across the way from Grimspound, is a rare triple stone row. There are also deep gerts, or gulleys, cut by tin miners. Medieval strip fields line the downs. There's an abandoned medieval village at Challacombe as well.
Today, there's a farm. Boards in the valley provide interesting information about the farm and the land.
