Foxworthy Bridge, Manaton, Dartmoor National Park

Foxworthy Bridge, Manaton, Dartmoor National Park

Foxworthy is a hamlet at the top of the Bovey Valley. There's a good, stone bridge spanning the River Bovey here. Foxworthy Bridge is the most convenient way to get from Manaton to the stunning Lustleigh Cleave and Hunter's Tor or vice versa.

Note that you can cross the River Bovey downstream at Horsham Steps when the river level is low. Do not try to cross these natural stepping stones after a period of wet weather.

As the River Bovey flows further south east, you can cross at Clam Bridge, Hisley Bridge and Drakeford Bridge. It's rare to be able to cross a short stretch of Dartmoor river in so many places so the Bovey Valley has obviously been a busy and popular place for a long time.

We've positioned Foxworthy Bridge on Google maps. Zoom in on the accompanying Google map to see its location. A network of paths runs from Foxworthy Bridge. Consult the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map for detail.
