Dunsford Wood (National Trust), Dunsford, Dartmoor National Park

Owned by the National Trust, Dunsford Wood is to the east of the Teign Gorge (National Trust) and Castle Drogo where the River Teign flows under Steps Bridge on its way to the coast.

Steep wooded sides rise from the valley floor which, in early spring is carpeted with wild daffodils. According to information boards on site provided by the Devon Wildlife Trust, theses valleys 'are cloaked with a scarce type of woodland called Western Sessile Oak Wood'. The land is managed by the Devon Wildlife Trust as Dunsford Nature Reserve.

As we mention in other attraction summary text linked to this area, we'd recommend the views from Blackingstone Rock and Mardon Down. Just down the road are three reservoirs filmed in Channel 4's 'Time Team' programme. Try the Tottiford, Trenchford & Kennick Reservoirs Circular Walk.

Visit Chagford and Moretonhampstead.
