Hurston Ridge/Chagford Common Stone Row, Chagford, Dartmoor National Park

Hurston Ridge/Chagford Common Stone Row, Chagford, Dartmoor National Park

This double stone row runs along the rise of Assycombe Hill at Hurston Ridge in the eastern section of Chagford Common. Just off the Two Moors Way, by Fernworthy Forest, it's easily accessible.

We've positioned Hurston Ridge/Chagford Common Stone Row on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location.

You can walk in from the car parking areas off the B3212 by the Warren House Inn. Alternatively, follow the Two Moors Way from the road that leads up from Chagford to Fernworthy Forest. There's parking on the verge at the side of the road.

We've also walked in from the main car park in Fernworthy Forest. This car park is clearly marked on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map.

If you fancy a big day out exploring all the stone rows, stone circles and hut circles in and around Fernworthy Forest then you can also walk out from the forest at Assycombe Hill onto the moors to see the Hurston Ridge/Chagford Common Stone Row.

Note that there is another fine stone row nearby in the Assycombe area of Fernworthy Forest. We refer to this as the Fernworthy Assycombe Stone Row.

For those interested in stone rows, make sure you visit the Shovel Down Stone Rows by the northern section of Chagford Common. Also see the triple stone row on the flank of Challacombe Down across the valley from English Heritage's Grimspound (English Heritage). Scorhill Stone Circle is in the local area as well. We locate all these points of interest on Google maps to help you find them on the moors.
