Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust Education and Visitor Centre, Bovey Tracey, Dartmoor National Park

Dartmoor National Park is known for its moorland ponies. Take a holiday in Dartmoor and it's difficult not to see ponies grazing or wandering the moors. These ponies come in a huge variety of colours, shapes and sizes. This variety can be confusing. A trip to the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust Education and Visitor Centre will help you learn more about the types of ponies you'll see on Dartmoor. Specifically, the centre will introduce you to the Pedigree Dartmoor Pony which is a rare breed.

The centre is located in Parke by Bovey Tracey near the eastern border of Dartmoor National Park. We've positioned the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust Education and Visitor Centre on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location. Note that at the time of geolocating the attraction on maps in Autumn 2013, Google's satellite imagery was out of date. There's limited parking outside the centre and a great deal more parking a few yards across the road next to Parke's house, buildings and offices.

Take time to read the information boards before walking down to meet some of the ponies in the barn. The staff are great and we'd recommend adopting a pony. By adopting a pony, yo'll help fund their work. From personal experience, it's a great present for kids.

If this is of interest, also visit The Miniature Pony Centre on the outskirts of Moretonhampstead. Whilst it's a business on private land, you can also see miniature ponies out in the fields on the fringe of the north moor by Okehampton Camp. You might also want to go horse riding on the moors.
