Belstone to Rowtor Walk, Belstone, Dartmoor National Park

Belstone to Rowtor Walk, Belstone, Dartmoor National Park

Fine walk that helps you explore the north west border of the Park. Stunning views of the high stuff and mid-Devon. On clear days, Exmoor rises to the north.

Start at Belstone. Follow the road that leads due south from the village onto Belstone Common and then head west to the Nine Maidens Stone Circle. To the south west, you'll see four tors. The first, and smallest, is Scarey Tor. Next is Rowtor. The two large, rocky summits behind are West Mill Tor and Yes Tor. It's a top view.

From the Nine Maidens, walk to Scarey Tor and then drop down to, and cross, the East Oakment River. From there, follow the track up to the summit of Rowtor.

Clearly, if you fancy a longer, harder walk then we'd recommend continuing past West Mill Tor to the summit of Yes Tor.

This is a linear walk, so once at your chosen tor, turn around and head back to Belstone.
