Bonehill Rocks, Widecombe in the Moor, Dartmoor National Park

Bonehill Rocks and nearby Hound Tor are two of the most popular places on Dartmoor to enjoy bouldering. When visiting, you're likely to see people climbing the rocks without ropes using a cushioned mat on the ground for protection.

Bonehill Rocks overlook Widecombe-in-the-Moor so the area gets busy in the holiday season. It's a beautiful spot with plenty of parking below the much higher Bell Tor, Chinkwell Tor and Honeybag Tor.

We've positioned Bonehill Rocks on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see their location. Bonehill Rocks are situated by the side of a narrow moorland road that provides access to Widecombe-in-the-Moor. It's an easy walk up from the village so the rocky outcrops are easily accessible by vehicle or on foot.

Whilst you're there, we'd recommend the circular walk that takes you around the base of Bonehill Down below Chinkwell Tor to the path that climbs between Honeybag Tor and Chinkwell Tor. The path then runs south to Bell Tor and back down to Bonehill Rocks. The views up top across to Hound Tor and Haytor Rocks are superb. This circular walk is clearly marked on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map.
