Dartmoor Zoo

Dartmoor Zoo is a major Dartmoor, and South Devon, visitor attraction. Situated on the outskirts of Sparkwell, it's a top family day out.

If wildlife is of interest, we'd also recommend heading to Plymouth to visit the National Marine Aquarium. Amazing place.

 

The National Trust's Saltram House

Follow the A38 Devon Expressway west of Sparkwell in the direction of Plymouth and you come to Saltram (National Trust).

Other National Trust properties in the local area include Buckland Abbey (National Trust) and Lydford Gorge (National Trust). Cross the Devon/Cornwall border to visit Cotehele House and Antony House.

Dartmoor's south moor

Walk the National Park's south moor. Head through Cornwood to Harford. Harford Moor Gate is a superb starting point from which to explore high moorland.

Dartmoor's prehistoric sites are internationally important. Two of the National Park's finest stone rows are located on the moor north east of Sparkwell. Stalldown Stone Row is remarkable. Beyond that is Stall Moor Stone Row which is the longest stone row in the world.
