Corn Ridge, Sourton, Dartmoor National Park

South of Meldon Reservoir, high above the West Okement River as it flows past the Black-a-Tor Copse National Nature Reserve, is Corn Ridge. It’s an impressive site from High Willhays or Black Tor.

To walk Corn Ridge, we’d recommend parking at Meldon Reservoir and heading south west to Sourton Tors before taking the well defined path up the western end of Corn Ridge to Branscombe’s Loaf. It can be very boggy on the ridge so try summer or winter walking when the ground is either a little more dried out or frozen. Trend south east to Steng-a-Tor and then to Kitty Tor and Amicombe Hill. This is a remote area and the views of the high stuff are superb.
