Shavercombe Tor and Waterfall, Sheepstor, Dartmoor National Park

Shavercombe Tor is a relatively small collection of outcrops and granite boulders on the western bank of Shavercombe Brook on the edge of Dartmoor's high south moor. The tor is near a waterfall and pool that are popular with Dartmoor enthusiasts and wild swimmers.

We've positioned Shavercombe Tor on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location. The waterfall and pool are visible a little further upstream.

Visiting can be tricky. The Shavercombe Brook flows into the River Plym. There's a ford close to where the waterways meet. After heavy rain, the water is deep and the current very strong so don't try to cross. You can follow the Plym upstream to Plym Steps and Plym Ford to walk the moor on the east side of the river. Alternatively, wander over to Shavercombe Tor and Waterfall from one of the car parking areas by Cadover Bridge and Blackaton Cross. From these, you're on the east side of the Plym. The terrain is boggy however.
