Langcombe Brook, Sheepstor, Dartmoor National Park

Langcombe Hill is 474 metres above sea level on Dartmoor's south moor. It's a flat and boggy area of remote moorland. Langcombe Brook drops north west to Plym Steps on the River Plym. Langcombe Brook has its headwaters at Langcombe Head.

Between Langcombe Head and Plym Steps are many points of interest including Grim's Grave Cairn Circle and Cist, Deadman's Bottom and the remains of tin mining activity. An ancient travel track that the Dartmoor expert Eric Hemery names 'Jobbers' Road Sheepstor - Buckfastleigh' runs to the north of the brook and headwaters. The valley is stunning.

We've positioned Langcombe Brook on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location.

To visit, head for Plym Steps. You can walk from the car parking area at Scout Hut Copse by Gutter Tor or across from Burrator Reservoir or down from Nun's Cross Farm. If the water is too high, head up to Plym Ford. Follow the path marked Abbot's Way on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map. Drop down to Langcombe Head.
