There are a handful of tors on Dartmoor that give you very special views in return for very little effort. Sharpitor (Princetown/West Dartmoor) is one of them.

Situated above a number of car parking areas on the B3212 Princetown to Yelverton road, Sharpitor provides a classic Dartmoor view over Burrator Reservoir to the Plymouth area and South Devon coast. The National Park's high south moor rises to the south east. Princetown and a cluster of fine tors are visible to the north east and north. Sharpitor (Princetown/West Dartmoor) is essential Dartmoor visiting that's great for kids and families.

To visit, head for the car parking areas on the B3212 by Sharpitor. One is marked on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map. You'll usually find an ice cream van here in good weather. The easiest walk is from the car parking area by the pond and stone row marked on that OS map. A track rises very gently to the outcrops that form Sharpitor. Take a picnic as there are plenty of granite slabs on which to sit and enjoy the sublime views.
