Leeden Tor, Princetown, Dartmoor National Park

Leeden Tor, Princetown, Dartmoor National Park

There are many car parking areas along the B3212 between Princetown and Yelverton. These provide great access to the tors east of the road overlooking Burrator Reservoir such as Sharpitor and Leather Tor. They also provide easy access to the tors west of the B3212. One of the best is Leeden Tor with its views across local quarries to the impressive Great Mis Tor and Staple Tors.

We've positioned Leeden Tor on Google maps. Zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location. To visit, head for the car parking areas on the B3212 just north of Sharpitor. There are two of them at the foot of a hill where the B3212 ascends/descends steeply. You'll usually see an ice cream van at the larger of the two parking areas in busy visitor periods. Wide grass tracks cross moorland to Leeden Tor.

Note that the Granite and Gears Princetown Railway Cycling Route follows the route of the Princetown Railway (Princetown to Yelverton Railway Dismantled). It's fun to wander down to Ingra Tor and walk a stretch of railway as it gently descends to the edge of open access moorland before walking back to the car parking areas. Consult the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map for detail. Return paths are marked in a broken green line.
