White Tor, Langstone Moor and Great Staple Tor Circular Walk, Peter Tavy, Dartmoor National Park

White Tor, Langstone Moor and Great Staple Tor Circular Walk, Peter Tavy, Dartmoor National Park

Impressive walk to the west of the Park incorporating one of Dartmoor's most dramatic tors.

Use the Ordnance Survey OL28 Dartmoor map to help plan your walk in tandem with our Google maps and photographs.

Start at the car park on the edge of Smeardon Down to the east of Peter Tavy. Follow the path to White Tor. The views north to Hare Tor and Great Links Tor are magnificent. There's also a fine view west to Brentor.

From White Tor, head south east to Langstone Moor Stone Circle. From here, there's a well worn track to Roos Tor and then Great Staple Tor. In our opinion, the litter of rocks forming Great Staple Tor is one of the finest in the Park.

Return on the path that leads through Higher Godsworthy and Lower Godsworthy to the car park on the edge of Smeardon Down.

%Note: if you have a dog, we'd recommend avoiding Higher Godsworthy and Lower Godsworthy. Instead, take the path a little further west that runs past Great Combe Tor and Little Combe Tor. That way, you'll avoid the livestock and dogs on the farms%.
