Okehampton Station Visitor Centre, Okehampton, Dartmoor National Park

The sign in our main photo to this listing reads Okehampton Station Visitor Centre but we'd describe Okehampton Station as a visitor hub.

The beginning/end of the Granite Way, home to Dartmoor Railway, Adventure Okehampton and YHA accommodation, the station is situated below Dartmoor's highest ground. Paths climb to the north moor. Boards provide information about local trails such as the Tarka Trail, West Devon Way, Two Castles Trail and Devonshire Heartland Way.

You can hire bikes, experience train trips or just relax and enjoy a slice of cake and cup of tea. There's plenty of parking or you can cycle or walk up from the centre of Okehampton. Whilst it can sometimes seem quiet up there, it's a great place from which to explore and learn about this section of Dartmoor.

We've positioned Okehampton Station Visitor Centre on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location.

To visit, head for Okehampton. At the crossroads in the centre of town, take George Street and then Station Road to Okehampton Station. As mentioned, you can also cycle or walk up to the station. It's a bit of an uphill slog but not too taxing.
