Moor Brook, Okehampton, Dartmoor National Park

Moor Brook rises near West Mill Tor on Dartmoor's north plateau. It flows down to Okehampton Camp on its way to Lower Halstock. The brook tumbles through Halstock Wood and meets the East Okement River at West Cleave in the East Okement Valley. This last stretch of Moor Brook is stunning.

We've positioned Moor Brook on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location.

We'd recommend walking the lower section of the brook through Halstock Wood. Start from the car parking area by Okehampton Camp. Follow the skinny road towards Lower Halstock by East Hill. Before you get to Lower Halstock, you'll see a signpost on your left. Walk the left (west/north) bank of the brook. You'll pass Moor Brook Stepping Stones as you enter the wood. A path descends to the bottom of the valley. A footbridge spans Moor Brook. East Hill Hillfort and West Cleave Tor (West Cleave Rocks) are high above. It's a very beautiful place.
