The Miniature Pony Centre, Moretonhampstead, Dartmoor National Park

Family attraction

A Dartmoor highlight for young children, The Miniature Pony Centre's just south west of Moretonhampstead on the B3212 which cuts across the National Park.

As the name suggests, the Centre's home to miniature ponies. Some, especially the foals, are unbelievably cute. There's a very large field in front of the restaurant and shop in which you can walk and meet the ponies.

There's a great deal more to do besides seeing the ponies. There are play areas and trampolines, horse rides and farm animals to see. For adults, there's a quieter area where one can walk and enjoy the Centre's natural beauty.

If you're looking for other things to do with kids in the Park, try Castle Drogo (National Trust) and River Dart Adventures, Becky Falls Woodland Park and Canonteign Falls.

For children's bike rides, head for the Granite Way and Haldon Forest.
