Middle Staple Tor, Merrivale, Dartmoor National Park

Middle Staple Tor, Merrivale, Dartmoor National Park

As the name suggests, this is the middle tor of three rocky outcrops collectively known as The Staple Tors. Little Staple Tor is about 50 metres further down the moor. Great Staple Tor is just over 20 metres up the moor. All three tors are easily accessible from the car parking areas along the B3357 in the western section of Dartmoor National Park.

We've positioned Middle Staple Tor on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location.

To visit, start from one of those car parking areas along the B3357 between Merrivale and the Tavistock View Point on Barn Hill/Pork Hill. You'll see The Staple Tors in front of you. Follow one of the grass tracks to Middle Staple Tor. From there, make sure you head up to Great Staple Tor which is one of the most photographed and beautiful on Dartmoor.
