Lustleigh Cleave River Bovey Circular Walk, Manaton, Dartmoor National Park

Lustleigh Cleave River Bovey Circular Walk, Manaton, Dartmoor National Park

Start at the car park about 200 metres after the first cattlegrid on the Bovey Tracey to Manaton road (we have geo-located this starting point on the map provided for ease of reference).

Follow the Dartmoor Way down alongside the River Bovey, past the first bridge on your right, to a smaller modern bridge over Becka Brook. Here you can either continue on and up through the forestry plantation to find a path on the top of the ridge that cuts back down into the River Bovey valley, or you can take the path across the bridge that soon joins the River Bovey. Look out for icicles on the river in winter and otters, if you are lucky. At points, the path follows the partially flooded 'Manaton Old Road'.

At the next bridge, helicoptered in to replace the slippery Clam Bridge, cross the river and continue up and right through Hisley Wood and the forestry plantation to rejoin the River Bovey at the old packhorse bridge. Cross the river to the track which takes you back up to the car park.
