Lyd Head, Lydford, Dartmoor National Park

The River Lyd rises between Corn Ridge and Woodcock Hill in the north west section of Dartmoor National Park. It's boggy, flat terrain best avoided unless you're walking after a long period of dry weather.

From its headwaters, the River Lyd flows past Great Nodden to the footbridge and stepping stones at High Down below Brat Tor (Bray Tor)/Widgery Cross. It then cuts through a beautiful valley before passing under the A386 and then Lydford Viaduct on its way to the famous National Trust property Lydford Gorge at the southern end of which it leaves Dartmoor National Park.
