Down Ridge, Hexworthy, Dartmoor National Park

Down Ridge provides great access to the crosses on the Buckfast to Tavistock Monastic Route up at Ter Hill and Mount Misery. From there, you can also drop down to Foxtor Farm and Childe's Tomb.

We've positioned Down Ridge on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location. To visit, head for Hexworthy. Follow the road from Hexworthy towards Sherberton. You come to a farm gate for Sherberton forbidding further access. There's limited parking on the right by the gate. This is Gobbet Plain just east of the Gobbet Tin Mine (disused) on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map. From there, walk back down the road and you'll see a sign pointing south to the moor.

Yomp up Down Ridge keeping Deep Swincombe valley to your right and you come to a wide, grass and peat farm track that climbs to Ter Hill. Crosses are visible on the skyline.
