Hole Rock, Haytor Vale, Dartmoor National Park

Hole Rock, Haytor Vale, Dartmoor National Park

Between the cairn on Black Hill and Smallacombe Rocks are a number of rocky outcrops running from the flat top of the hill down the flank of moorland towards a public footpath and then Becka Brook. These rocky outcrops are marked Hole Rock on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map.

The views from the rocky outcrop at the top of the hill looking west to Hound Tor with Honeybag Tor, Chinkwell Tor and Hamel Down beyond are superb.

To visit, follow one of the wide, grass tracks that cut across Haytor Down from the car parking areas around Haytor Vale. Alternatively, yomp up to the cairn at Black Hill from the car parking area at Trendlebere Down. Hole Rock is just south west.
