Gidleigh Park (North/South Park), Gidleigh, Dartmoor National Park

Gidleigh Park Hotel is widely recognised as being one of the best hotels in the UK. It's located in beautiful, wooded landscape on the fringe of the high moors near the Dartmoor National Park gateway town Chagford. The woodland is called Gidleigh Park and a section of the Mariners' Way runs through the trees and over the North Teign River. We've positioned Gidleigh Park on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location.

Gidleigh Park is split into two sections on either side of the river. North Park is north of the river and is where you'll find Gidleigh Tor. South Park is south of the river and rises to edge of the moors near Round Pound, Kestor Rock and Batworthy Corner. Given that there are a number of small parking areas up by Batworthy Corner, we'd recommend exploring Gidleigh Park from there. Note that's there's space for a few vehicles by the hamlet Gidleigh and a small public car park by Scorhill Farm near Scorhill Down and Gidleigh Common. Please consult the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map for detail. The green path marked on that map is the section of the Mariners' Way to which we refer above. You cross the North Teign River on a modern wood bridge.

If you want to visit Gidleigh Park and the surounding area, try the Round Pound, Gidleigh Park and Scorhill Down Circular Walk.
