Two Castles Trail, Dartmoor, Dartmoor National Park

Two Castles Trail, Dartmoor, Dartmoor National Park

To the east of the walk is Okehampton Castle. To the west is Launceston Castle. These are the two castles in the trail's name.

Running east to west, it's the first section of the trail that lies in Dartmoor National Park.

This section shares the route of the West Devon Way from central Okehampton, past the castle, across the down above Meldon Reservoir before it leaves the West Devon Way by Sourton Tors and trends west to Launceston.

From Sourton, the Two Castles Trail cuts through Bridestowe, Lewdown, Lifton and ends at Launceston in Cornwall.

At 24 miles in distance, whilst it's possible to complete the walk in a day, the Two Castles Trail makes a good weekend break.
