Views of Dartmoor's reservoirs

North. Fernworthy Reservoir. The views are great as you walk around the reservoir. If we had to choose one angle, try the view from the south eastern end of the dam looking back up the water. Meldon Reservoir provides great views in the north of the National Park as well.

East. Avon Dam Reservoir from the dam.

West. Burrator Reservoir from Leather Tor and Sheeps Tor.

 

Villages

The classic view of Widecombe-in-the-Moor is from the car parking area on the B3387 between Hollow Tor and Bonehill Rocks.

 

Towns

Chagford from the rocky outcrops on Meldon Hill.

The Teign Gorge from Castle Drogo (National Trust).

Seasonal Views

Spring. Bluebells at Holwell Lawn and up at East Hill.

Summer. Late evening sunsets on the western side of the National Park. The view from Sourton Tors over the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to Cornwall is stunning.

Autumn. The Dart Gorge, Teign Gorge and Dewerstone Valley in late October/early November when the leaves turn.

Winters. Belstone Tors and Higher Tor over Dartmoor's north moor when snow falls.
