Yar Tor Stone Row, Dartmeet, Dartmoor National Park

Yar Tor Stone Row, Dartmeet, Dartmoor National Park

Triple stone rows are rare. The best example is Cosdon (The Cemetery) Stone Row. Challacombe Stone Row is in a superb location. Yar Tor Stone Row is much more difficult to see but when you've located the row, it becomes clear that it's exceptionally long in comparison to the other triple stone rows mentioned.

We've positioned Yar Tor Stone Row on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location.

To visit, head for the small car parking area below Yar Tor. Follow the main road that runs from Widecombe-in-the-Moor to Dartmeet. Near Dartmeet, just before the road descends steeply to the River Dart, take the narrow moorland road to the right that branches off to Babeny. You'll see a parking area to your left and a modern cross on the flank of the moor to your right. The stone row is a short stroll to the north west. If you're coming from the Dartmeet direction, follow the road that climbs steeply from Dartmeet and the narrow moorland road is to the right.

You can walk in from all directions. It's a slog from Babeny to the north west and Dartmeet to the south west. You drop down from Corndon Tor if you're walking in from the east.
