Scorhill Tor, Chagford, Dartmoor National Park

On the edge of Dartmoor's north moor, overlooking the beautiful Scorhill Gorge, is the small rocky outcrop Scorhill Tor. Located on Scorhill Down near Scorhill Stone Circle, the tor provides exceptional views of Kestor Rock to the south east and the National Park's north plateau to the west. Members of the team at Holiday in Dartmoor live in the area. In our experience, few people visit the outcrop despite the natural beauty of the area.

We've positioned Scorhill Tor on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location. To visit by car, drive to one of the small car parking areas at either Batworthy Corner or Scorhill Farm. Walk around to the tor. Refer to the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map or the Harvey British Mountain Map 'Dartmoor' map for detail. If you walk from Batworthy, you'll cross Teign-e-ver Clapper Bridge and Wallabrook Bridge before coming to Scorhill Stone Circle. From there, you can stroll across to Scorhill Tor. The terrrain is a little tussocky here.
