The Belstone Ring Cross, Belstone, Dartmoor National Park

'Holiday in Dartmoor' is part of a network of UK travel sites. Whilst gathering content for these sites, we've been photographing and researching South West England for over a decade. During this time, we've seen a large number of ancient crosses in, or near, churches. The Belstone Ring Cross is a fine example of one of these crosses.

Situated inside Belstone Church, the ring cross dates from between the 7th and 9th century AD. There's an excellent information board in the church. Visit to learn more about its history and purpose.

If this is of interest, we'd also recommend seeing Datuidoc's Stone in Lustleigh St John the Baptist Church.
