Scarey Tor, Belstone, Dartmoor National Park

Scarey Tor is a small rocky outcrop near Cullever Steps and Cullever Steps Pool on the edge of Dartmoor's north moor. The East Okement River flows fast in the valley below the tor. The Nine Maidens Stone Circle and Tarka Trail are nearby. The tor offers superb views of West Cleave, Mid Devon and Exmoor National Park beyond.

We've positioned Scarey Tor on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location.

To visit, drive to Okehampton Camp. Continue on the army ring road towards East Okement Farm. Park above Cullever Steps before you reach the farm. Wander down to Cullever Steps, cross the water and then walk to Scarey Tor.

Alternatively, follow the Tarka Trail from Belstone to near the Nine Maidens Stone Circle. From there, continue on the army track to the Scarey Tor area. Grass paths run from the army track across to the outcrop.

There are many other routes including the Tarka Trail from Okehampton and the Okehampton Camp to West Cleave Circular Walk.
